Dr House and Detective Holmes

House is a famous TV show, a medical drama, that created by David Shore and became quite successful in the US and Europe. The main character, Dr House, is an untypical medical specialist, a total genius, who leads a team of medical workers to conduct diagnostics in the fictional Princeton - Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. The six seasons and the 132 episodes have been widely accepted and enjoy the love of the audience.

I love House. It is, for me, one of the best shows on TV. I love the world it’s created and the characters in it. I love the medical mysteries that centre the action and most of all I love Hugh Lauries amazing performance of the eponymous Dr. House. I can quite happily sit and watch an entire DVD boxed set of it back to back and think that a very good way to spend a weekend.

Not just the bumbling English Idiot

As a massive fan of Blackadder (a brilliant English comedy starring Mr Hugh Laurie, as well as Tony Robinson and Rowan Atkinson) I found it hard to believe he was making a name for himself in America as a hard-ass Doctor who doesn`t take anything from anybody and lives by his own rules.

In fact, the very description of him I got, similar to the one I gave above, made my stomach turn. It sounded so More

The Last Season

Rumour in the TV world has it that this is the final season we are going to be able to see Hugh Laurie gracing our screens as the amazing Dr. Gregory House. I have to admit though, I am not really worried. I mean don’t get me wrong it is an amazing show and I am a huge fan, but I am also a fan of his earlier work as well, particularly the stuff that he did with Stephan Fry of Jeeves and Worcester fame.

As he kept going, everything he touched continued to be gold dust, being a constant companion in Black Adder and having the British population falling in love with his comedy, it seemed only natural that he moved to the US to look for something there. All we can really hope is the when the sad day comes and House is no longer on the television, Laurie will come back home where he belongs and continue with the comedy that we all miss so much.
